Im BAAACCKK!!!!

Yo. So here I am back in Knoxvegas. For those that don't know, I spent last week in Myrtle Beach. So everyone's next question is .... how's your tan? It's the same as it was before I left. A golfer's tan. I actually only got to spend one full day on the beach and that was last Sunday. Monday and Tuesday I went half days so as to let my previous sun settle in and not get burnt. Wednesday we drove up to Wilmington and toured the USS North Carolina which was fun, so no beach that day. Then I got sick on Thursday and Friday and didn't even go out on the beach. So, needless to say, my tan might have actually diminished at the beach. I wonder if that happens to very many other people. Probably not. The real only depressing thing about the trip is that I was in the golf capital of the world and didn't get to play any rounds at all. My dad really doesn't play, and the only person I knew that I was close with in Myrtle Beach moved, so I didn't get to play one of the more than 100 courses in the area. Oh well. So I'm glad to be back in Ktown although I'm staying busy trying to rearrange the apartment since Rebecca has moved out. I'm doing some painting along with other projects, so it's going to be a week long project. Anyways, glad to be back and into the normal lifestyle. Feel free to holla at me if anyone wants to hang as life is rather quiet living by yourself. Til next time.

Softball Update

So last night we had another softball game out at KCS. Although I really don't enjoy playing softabll out there, since the field is so small, I do have fun because I feel like I don't take it as seriously as I usually do. My West End team is actually pretty loaded this year. Don't ask me how this happened because the guy that split the teams is actually on the other team. West End II actually beat us earlier in the year, but we had to loan them two players thus giving them a decent team. Combine that with the fact that we didn't play good at all that night and we ended up losing by 1. Up to last night, we had won every other game by more than 15 runs. So last night we played Farragut. They have a really good team to go along with our team. Together, we probably have the best two teams in the league. However, they have no girls on their team and we have four, although usually only one or two play at a time, but I don't have a problem with that. I thought last night we didn't play particularly too well. We started off strong, getting our limit of 5 runs in the 1st inning. But after that we couldn't hit the ball. We went into the last inning leading by 1, 10-9. However, we fell apart and gave up 8 runs to trail 17-10. We scored one more to end up losing 17-11. I think Farragut's strength is that they hit the ball really well, mostly line drives, and can control where it goes, and they field the ball really well. I still think if we had played up to our capabilities, we could have won the game. It probably didn't help that we hadn't played in two weeks. But, like I told our team, there is still the playoffs.

But one of the more interesting things I heard of last night was a rumor that had been going around the league about me. Sam, one of the players on our team, and I stayed for the second game and played with Karns since they didn't have enough players. I had three different guys and another who asked Sam where I played college baseball at. Apparently, I was told that there were some in the league that were saying that I had played baseball in college. I was pleased to inform them that I didn't play in college, and that in fact that I didn't even play in high school. Both Sam and I found this to be hilarious. It was definately very flattering, but I was shocked that people were saying that about me. Just thought I would share that with everyone.

I will be absent from posting next week as I am traveling to Myrtle Beach for a week long vacation. I'll be sure let everyone know how great the beach looks when I get back.

Checking In

So it has been a little while since my last post. Not much has been going on in UT Bball Land. I'm still job searching so if anyone knows of anything out there, let me know. As of this point, I'm pretty much up for anything. I received a comment from Volboy about my review of Superman Returns. To see a more detailed review of the movie, and a pretty much dead on review in my opinion, go check out his blog linked above. In my comment section, Volboy commented that he liked Superman Returns, but found Batman Begins to be a better movie. So this brought up my debate, which superhero movie was better, Superman Returns or Batman Begins? I am usually pretty biased toward Batman as I grew up watching all the movies and having all the toys, including, oh yeah your going to be jealous, THE BAT CAVE!!!!!! I had all three model vehicles from Batman Forever, which included the Batmobile, Bat plane, and Bat boat. So yeah, I was extra cool.

But back to the debate between Superman and Batman. Superman Returns was a good movie with some really cool special effects, but it was definately too long. It seemed like the first part of the movie moved fairly slow. But once Superman appeared, everyone got that exciting feeling cause you could hear the music and you knew Superman was on his way. Sometimes I felt like I wanted more interaction between Superman and Lex Luthor. I thought the scenes where they were together were some of the best of the movie. Compared to Batman Begins, however, I felt it lacked in a couple of key areas. I thought one of the best parts of Batman Begins was the insight into how Bruce Wayne became Batman and the difficulties and emotions he had to deal with. Christopher Nolan did a great job of directing and Christian Bale did a great job as Batman. Both were able to bring back the darkness that is the "Dark Knight." The best part of the movie is how dark that it really was. So just from judging from the two movies, I would be looking forward to the sequel for Batman Begins than Superman Returns. I just can't wait to see Christian Bale go at it against the Joker. Should be exciting.

It's a bird, it's a plane.....

It's Superman!!! So Friday, I was able to go see Superman Returns. I had been looking forward to going to see the movie for a while now. I had seen all of the trailers and had really become a Superman fan since Smallville came out. I definately wouldn't call myself a Superman expert, because I am far from it and don't claim to know everything about Clark Kent ,but nonetheless, I was excited to see the movie. And that excitement increased more so when I found out that the first Spiderman 3 teaser trailer was being shown in the previews. I had a sneaky suspicion that they were going to show the teaser during the Superman previews, but I was excited to hear that it was part of the previews since I am a HUGE Spiderman fan. If you didn't know, Spiderman is like my favorite superhero of all time. I watched the cartoons growing up everyday, and I have been a Spiderman fan ever since. So back on track and on to the movie....

I had heard some mixed reviews going into the movie so I really didn't know what to expect. Some had said it was good, other bad. I had even heard that some thought that Superman had some homosexual tendencies. Well, that was definately wrong and I don't know where anybody got that idea. I thought the movie was actually pretty good. It started out a lot like Spiderman 2 in that it is a fairly long movie, 2 1/2 hours, and took the first part of the movie to set everything up. But just like Spiderman 2, once the movie was over, I thought it was great. The movie has some really awesome special effects. But one of the coolest parts of the movie, is the first time that you actually see Superman. His music starts playing and you get that feeling that here comes Superman and he can do anything to save anyone. It's really exciting. Overall, I think I would give the movie 4 out of 5 stars. It probably could have been a little better, but overall it's a good summer blockbuster. Now, it's time to look forward to Spiderman 3. Coming to you May 4, 2007.
