Softball Update

So last night we had another softball game out at KCS. Although I really don't enjoy playing softabll out there, since the field is so small, I do have fun because I feel like I don't take it as seriously as I usually do. My West End team is actually pretty loaded this year. Don't ask me how this happened because the guy that split the teams is actually on the other team. West End II actually beat us earlier in the year, but we had to loan them two players thus giving them a decent team. Combine that with the fact that we didn't play good at all that night and we ended up losing by 1. Up to last night, we had won every other game by more than 15 runs. So last night we played Farragut. They have a really good team to go along with our team. Together, we probably have the best two teams in the league. However, they have no girls on their team and we have four, although usually only one or two play at a time, but I don't have a problem with that. I thought last night we didn't play particularly too well. We started off strong, getting our limit of 5 runs in the 1st inning. But after that we couldn't hit the ball. We went into the last inning leading by 1, 10-9. However, we fell apart and gave up 8 runs to trail 17-10. We scored one more to end up losing 17-11. I think Farragut's strength is that they hit the ball really well, mostly line drives, and can control where it goes, and they field the ball really well. I still think if we had played up to our capabilities, we could have won the game. It probably didn't help that we hadn't played in two weeks. But, like I told our team, there is still the playoffs.

But one of the more interesting things I heard of last night was a rumor that had been going around the league about me. Sam, one of the players on our team, and I stayed for the second game and played with Karns since they didn't have enough players. I had three different guys and another who asked Sam where I played college baseball at. Apparently, I was told that there were some in the league that were saying that I had played baseball in college. I was pleased to inform them that I didn't play in college, and that in fact that I didn't even play in high school. Both Sam and I found this to be hilarious. It was definately very flattering, but I was shocked that people were saying that about me. Just thought I would share that with everyone.

I will be absent from posting next week as I am traveling to Myrtle Beach for a week long vacation. I'll be sure let everyone know how great the beach looks when I get back.
